IDEB desire to extend the organizational relationship abroad. Firstly Institute of Civil Engineers, UK visited IDEB Head Quarter in the year 1993. In 1994 a delegation from IDEB visited UK. The CEC desired to form SAARC Diploma Engineers Forum. As a result a convention of the SAARC Diploma Engineers was held in Dhaka in the year 1996. Following the convention in 1998 the SAARC Diploma Engineers Forum (SDEF) was formed which is recognized by SAARC Secretariat. Detail of SDEF is given in the web site. IDEB has also applied to the Common Wealth Engineers Association for membership, C.W.E.A has already given their positive decision on the matter.
Off course, the IDEB has opened its Overseas Chapter in the year 1981. The Welfare Associations of Bangladeshi Diploma Engineers numbering seven are working abroad.
